Postgraduate Course in Radiation Protection and Safety of Radiation Sources (PGEC)
The Postgraduate Educational Course in Radiation Protection and Safety of Radiation Sources (PGEC), organized in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), kicked off on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission. The course brings together 15 trainees from eight Arab countries: Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Syria, Yemen, and Libya.
Running for six months, this program is being held for the fourth consecutive year, having achieved top international rankings based on IAEA evaluations and participant feedback. Its success is attributed to Jordan’s advanced infrastructure and the diversity of its national radiation and nuclear projects and practices.
The program features theoretical lectures, hands-on training, advanced research projects, as well as technical visits and field scientific sessions at various research, medical, and industrial facilities. The course aims to prepare participants to serve as radiation protection officers, experts, and trainers, thereby strengthening national and regional capacities in this vital field.
