Jordan Atomic Energy Commission Participates in a National Exercise to Enhance Preparedness for Radiological Incidents

As part of strengthening national preparedness to deal with radiological incidents, the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) participated in the operational field exercise, "Dragon Eye," which was conducted over two days.

The exercise aimed to test the coordinated national plan for dealing with hazardous materials, in addition to standard response procedures and the executive plan for emergency situations. During the exercise, JAEC activated its operations room, tested communication channels, and assessed the field team’s capabilities in handling a simulated scenario involving a radiological incident.

The team demonstrated high efficiency in carrying out survey operations, identifying radioactive sources, and implementing decontamination, in addition to containment and transport, while adhering to the highest standards of radiation safety and protection, and working as part of an integrated national response team.

This exercise comes as a culmination of the Commission’s continuous efforts to strengthen national capabilities in radiological and nuclear emergency preparedness and response, enrich the practical experience of field teams, and enhance coordination mechanisms with relevant local and international bodies.
